Remy Gardner had a rollercoaster rookie campaign in WorldSBK but a strong end, narrowly missing out on the rostrum, meant his place for 2024 was secured with GRT Yamaha. A best of fourth was the highlight, as well as a front row at Most, as the #87 finished the season ninth in the standings. Rapid throughout testing, Gardner will be hoping this translates into a strong season for his sophomore campaign.
Australian rider Gardner made the switch from MotoGP™ to WorldSBK for 2023 after one season in MotoGP™. A graduation with KTM was confirmed after he won the Moto2™ World Championship in 2021, but his rookie MotoGP™ was challenging for Gardner and he scored only 13 points. In 2023, he teamed up with Dominique Aegerter at the GYTR GRT Yamaha WorldSBK Team on the Yamaha YZF-R1 machine.
Gardner made his Moto2™ debut in 2016 on the back of one full season in Moto3™. His first four campaigns in Moto2™ did not yield any podiums but his first podium at the 2020 Styrian Grand Prix opened the floodgates: another podium at the European Grand Prix in Valencia was backed up by his first win at Portimao and was the start of a 2021 title challenge. 12 podiums came in 2021 as he won the Moto2™ title, beating his teammate, including a run of eight podiums in the opening nine races of the season.
